“Enlightened by Sin” on Ellen Datlow’s Honorable Mention List for Best Horror of the Year Volume 5

As the title indicates, I found out recently that my story “Enlightened by Sin”, from Lincoln Crisler’s anthology Corrupts Absolutely? made the honorable mention list for Ellen Datlow’s Best Horror of the Year Volume 5 along with Weston Ochse and A.D. Spencer. You can find tons of great authors on the list, as well as in the actual book. Anthologies put together by Ellen Datlow are always worth reading.

Weston, A.D., and I also got a mention in the Summation 2012 section of the book that’s out now from Nightshade Books for those interested. Here’s an Amazon link. It’s available in paperback and digital.

I’m thankful for Lincoln for including my story in this anthology, and I’m very happy that Ms. Datlow enjoyed it.

As anyone who writes knows, self-doubt is a scourge that sits on our backs and haunts us. When we find out that someone we respect and have admired for years actually liked something that sprang from the nooks and crannies of our brain, it means a lot. Getting on this honorable mention list for the best horror of 2012 really does mean a lot to me.

Now, for anyone who wants to see “Enlightened by Sin”, you can buy it here. The sample is long enough that you can get a good taste of the stories within.

More Book News – Lou vs. the Zombies Sale, Lou vs. the Pack, and more

I keep writing, freelancing daily while working on my own fiction into the wee hours. I only stop for dinner, maybe a bit of Netflix, and sleep. Although, most of the time, I try to sleep but end up watching old episodes of Star Trek (TOS) because, you know, it can’t watch itself.

However, I am making some good headway on all of the various projects that I’m doing. Wetwork is just about ready to go, and Out in the Cold is probably a week or two away from going on sale. Still plugging away on a rewrite of the outline for the short story “Dead Ahead” – it’s rough. Also, the outline for the new novella, number 2 in the Lou Chronicles, is nearly done. Lou vs. the Pack promises to be just as fun as his first adventure.

I want to make sure old Lou gets the attention that he deserves, so I’m running a sale on Lou vs. the Zombies from now until Monday, September 3 (Labor Day). Until then, the novella is going to be just 99 cents on Kindle! I’m working on a paperback version as well.

I’m also mulling over ideas for the third Lou novella. I also thought it might be fun to “interview” Lou after the third book comes out, hopefully before Christmas of this year.

That’s all for now. Please spread the word about the sale for Lou!

Dark Superheroes – Corrupts Absolutely?

I recently had the honor of appearing in a wonderful anthology called Corrupts Absolutely?, a book that looks at the world of superheroes through a dark and dirty lens. The anthology, edited  by Lincoln Crisler and out now in paperback and digital from Damnation Books, has a ton of great stories for those who like their superheroes with a bit of a sharp and nasty edge.

You might recognize some of the authors in the anthology: Weston Ochse, Jeff Strand, Tim Marquitz, Cat Rambo, and some other greats. I’m quite proud of my own contribution to the anthology, “Enlightened by Sin”, but sharing a table of contents with all of the other great writers is what really makes me happy.

Now, I’ve blogged about this antho before, but with the loss of so much of my posts, it needed to be done again. I also thought I would add some links to a round table discussion on the book that appeared on a great genre blog called Wag the Fox.

Enjoy the discussion:

Ahh… Technology

I love technology as much as the next guy, but it can jump up and bite if you’re not careful. I wasn’t careful. I lost a good chunk of my old site and posts; they vanished into the digital ether. So, here I am starting again, building anew. It’s a fresh start, but it will be a lot of work to get up as much as I had before.

I’m cool with that.

I’ll be adding pages, links to stories, information about books and anthologies, scripts, comics and whatnot when I can.

Happy days.
